Medicinal Healing
Aconite
Use and effects: as a depressant, neurotoxin. Reduce fever, painkiller, reduce inflammation, reduce high blood pressure, induce sweating, diuretic, slow heart rate, sedate, topical counterirritant, to treat anxiety and restlessness.
Dosage: “As little as 2 mg of pure aconite or 1 g of plant may cause death from paralysis of the respiratory center or cardiac muscle… safe dosage is dependent on processing. Traditional Western texts recommended 60 mg of the root per dose.” – Drugs.com

Adonis
Use and effects: Adonidosine, Adonitoxine , Adonivernoside – toxic in large doses. Antiseptic. Regulates heart palpitations and tachycardia. Healer qualification: Master/journeyman to process and administer. Apprentices may handle but not process or administer without supervision.
Physical Healing
The Pernese acknowledge the importance of exercise and physical therapy. In a society that has little room for sedentary lifestyles, there is a stigma surrounding obeisity. This is unfortunate for that small percentage of the population who have the most stubbornly slow metabolisms.
For those recovering from injuries or suffering other physical maladies, healers can prescribe a regimen of physical therapy. Jounreyman healers may make a solid living from ongoing coaching or therapy sessions.
Viable methods that the Pernese might employ:
Chiropractics, accupuncture, accupressure, massage, heat/cold, yoga or similar exercise, hydro therapy, etc.
Surgical Healing
Any procedure which can be preformed without electric tools could theoretically be preformed on Pern. While many finite details have been lost, Pernese medicine far exceeds mideival maedicine in that it lacks in superstition and misinformation which was the cause of many un-timely deaths. Pernese medicine is founded on medical knowledge that post-dates the 21st century.
